The journey to this great day began in 1957 when the PCC gained her autonomy from the Basel Mission. Presbyterian Church Day, as it’s called is a day to mark PCC’s independence, marked by many festive activities.

This year, celebrations unfolded under the theme “be steadfast in your transformation”, under the current administration headed by the Moderator, Rt. Rev. Fonki Samuel Forba.

As oppose to last year where the Moderator called for  celebrations to be low key because of the socio-political atmosphere in the country, and the inability for some Christians to celebrate in war torn zones, in Cameroon, this year however witnessed the normal effervescence that normally characterize the day.

Tug of war, football competitions, handball competition, ballet, traditional dance, egg and spoon race by all movements and choirs of the church, were some of the activities that helped to give colour to the day.

In his message to the Christians as they celebrate 62, the Moderator of the PCC Rt. Rev. Fonki Samuel Forba, called on all to be steadfast, not letting tough and challenging moments weaken their fate in God. He urged them to be faithful and optimistic because tough times don’t last forever, and believing that God is in control.

Reports hold that celebrations unfolded smoothly both in Cameroon and the Diaspora. This year’s celebration was unique in the sense that it marks the last celebration before the election of the Moderator and Synod Clerk later in November. The new team will pilot the church’s activities for the next five years, marking an end to the current regime’s term of office.[spacer height="30px"]
